2014-15 brings record enrollment in agriculture at Auburn

Enrollment in Auburn’s College of Agriculture for fall semester 2014 hit a record 1,355 students, a number that includes the most undergraduates ever—1,079—as well as 276 graduate students.

Again for 2014-15 academic year, male students are in the minority on Ag Hill, with females accounting for 54 percent of the college’s student body.

Among the College of Agriculture’s record 250 true freshmen:

  • The average high school GPA was 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.
  • The average ACT score was 25.8.
  • 35 percent are from out of state.
  • 38 percent are male.

This year’s enrollment numbers also include another record high, with 90 transfer students.

The Department of Animal Sciences continues to have the largest undergraduate enrollment in the college, with 496 students, followed by agricultural business and economics at 154 students and horticulture at 135. The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences has the college’s largest graduate program, with 102 master’s and doctoral degree students; the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology comes in second, with 46.

Not included in the College of Agriculture enrollment totals are the 154 undergraduate and 30 graduate students in biosystems engineering, as those students are included in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s count.
