E.W. Shell Fisheries Center — Extension and Outreach
Extension and Outreach
The E.W. Shell Fisheries Center offers demonstration projects and programs for industry partners, legislators and the general public and conducts extension and outreach programs for diverse audiences. In addition, scientists can also be involved in testing new products or technologies for manufacturers and local businesses. The center also supplies fish to different constituencies, including schools, small farms and businesses, fishing rodeos, local restaurants, the AU Raptor Rehabilitation Center, Each Alabama Food Bank and the general public. Students of the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences operate a fish market at the center every Saturday.
The E.W. Shell Fisheries Center hosts an annual field day for students, families and members of the community to experience first-hand the global impact of Auburn’s School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences.
Fresh fish and other seafood are available for sale to the public on Saturday mornings at the E.W. Shell Fisheries Center from 8 a.m. to noon. Contact the market at 334-844-4799.
The E.W. Shell Center works closely with Auburn’s Southeastern Raptor Center to rehabilitate and release injured birds of prey while conducting a variety of educational programs.
