Diversification of Production Crops

We are working with catfish farmers who have learned that diversification of production crops is important in aquaculture as it is in traditional agronomic crops. Tilapia is now being grown for the market in heated “barn” greenhouses and outdoors during summer. Rainbow trout grow extremely well during winter in Alabama and our Pacific White Shrimp growers of Greene County are having initial success with the production of trout during winter. More species will come as farmers learn about new income opportunities.
